We have a special guest post today from Parisa Azamian from the lifestyle blog thefabulista.com. Besides being quite the fabulista herself, Parisa also enjoys making homes big and small fabulous.
I’m always trying to spice up my living space, whether it be with wood frames, photographs of friends and family or a fresh bouquet of flowers. In the new year, I have resolved to a new lease on my professional and personal life, but as I looked around my less than desirable abode, I couldn’t help but dwell on the fact that their is not nearly enough natural light or fabulousness. And thanks to my teensy weensy salary (or often lack thereof), the options are limited, or so I thought.
What’s a savvy girl to do?
Enter: mirrors and lots of ‘em!
Living in Los Angeles, we are given few choices when it comes to housing; the mid-century duplex/apartment, uber modern townhome, or stark multi-unit apartment buildings (aka people farms). Now, if I had my druthers (and moneybags and swimming pools filled with gold coins), I would live in none of these, but unforch that is not the case. Mirrors are an easy way to make your home lighter, brighter and add a personal touch to your casa.
Nothing can make a room seem larger and brighter than installing a mirror (or 10) than actually making the room bigger or adding windows. But who has the cash or patience to go through a remodel right now? Try hanging one large mirror on an otherwise unused wall or putting in a tall floor mirror to really open up a room.
This one from West Elm is a real beauty.
I also love the idea of many small mirrors on one wall like this.
Flea markets, thrift stores, or your own garage can be great spots to find some unique pieces and create your own mirror wall in the room of your choice. One decoration rule to go by: keeping wall hangings simple and classy with one or two large pieces OR use many smaller themed items in a small space. I personally like the second option best.
Again, mirrors are a super easy way to bring in more light and life into your space. Give yourself a little looksy before heading out the door or just heading into the next room. Who says vanity isn’t a virtue?
Look for more ideas on hanging mirrors to your rooms at MarthStewart.com or Apartment Therapy where they have tons of ideas on how to incorporate mirrors in your home with your own personal touch.
Lots of Love,
Parisa

love the post!
mirrors are great – but they’re so expensive – i like the idea of the little eclectic mirrors all clustered together. so prettttteee!
That’s awesome! I love the great tips
Especially when you’re on a budget.
I like the simplicity but classy elegance that mirrors bring to a room. A mirrior placed near the front door is always a convienient place to do a last minute once over before running out! Thanks for the tip!
Pretty princess. Love it. I found a few great mirrors at the Fairfax flea market….

I found this antique green mirror for $22.00 on Soapologynyc.com. Check it out!
Good find Nina and at a great price. I think it’s meant to be a self-standing vanity mirror though, no?
Here’s a link everyone… http://soapologynyc.com/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=162
I was the next visitor to SITS after you, so I’m visiting you for today’s ShareFest. And what a nice guest post you’ve featured here! It’s nice to meet you. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
I love the multiple mirrors idea. The tanning salon I go to has a wall of 5-6 rectangle mirrors (hanging horizontally above a couch) in the lobby that bring in extra light and give the space a chic modern feel. I asked the girl at the front desk about them and she said that the owen bought them at IKEA for cheap and then spray painted the frames a complimenting color.
p.s. I’ve found that a good place to look for local garage sales in your area is on Craigslist
