Remember back in the day when Valentine’s Day was for everyone? Your mom would make you special heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast and then send you off to school with a card for every kid in your class, even the boys who had cooties. I miss those days. As you get older, the day somehow becomes exclusively for couples, making those who aren’t part of one, feel left out. It’s a shame really because it’s a missed opportunity to show friends, family members, and colleagues, just how much you love ‘em.

As promised, here’s a list of gift ideas for the women you heart this Valentine’s Day.

Louis Vuitton heart-shaped coin purse, available online and in stores, $450.

Okay, maybe not appropriate in this economy [or ever], but it’s just so cute, I had to show you. Now, on to some more realistic ideas…

(clockwise, from top left) Viscose Tie Dye Scarf – Pink, Target, $16.99; Heart sunglasses, FredFlare, $11; Swarovski Crystal Heart Ring in Red with Black finish, GirlPROPS, $14.99; Betsey Johnson Wink! socks, joyofsocks.com, $10; LOVE pendant on 16″ chain, GirlPROPS, $4.99; Boo-Boo Kisses Bandages, Wishingfish.com, $4.99.

Single this Valentine’s Day? Don’t sit home and sulk, gather up your other single gal pals and make a night of it. Pop open some bubbly, mix up some cosmos, and watch your favorite chic flicks. At the end of the night, send your guests home with a copy of the book twilight to keep them occupied into the wee morning hours.

Sex and the City – The Complete Series, Amazon.com, $102; Check out Chow.com for easy Cosmo recipes; Kissing Game by Jacque Torres Chocolate, available online and in stores, $35; Twilight soft cover book by Stephanie Meyers, Amazon.com, $6.

So remember, Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, celebrate it with anyone you love.

Until next time,
