Such Great Lengths

Nothing helps cure the end-of-summer blues faster than slipping on a pair of hot new boots. Even just sizing up a few pairs gives you something to look forward to as summer temps slip away.

What’s new in BOOTS for fall and winter? Here’s the long and the short of it…

#1 Length

It was all about length on the fall ‘09 runways. The over the knee boot trend introduced last year climbs to new heights this year. Say hello to mid-thigh boots. Think catwoman and dominatrix.

I think these Loubs are oh-so-sexy, but really who has $2K to spend on boots. TopShop has a similar looking pair for 1/10 of the cost.

These boots would look great with shorter skirts and tights for day or night or with leggings and an oversized long sweater during the day.

#2 Platforms

Platform boots are in style again, but designers are changing it up by playing with unexpected color and material combos.

#3 The Wedge

I think the wedge is going to be the “IT” boot of the season. My favorite pair is by Stuart Weitzman.

Great for every day as you can tuck jeans or leggings into them or wear to the office with a knee length skirt.

#4 The Bootie

Short booties are also going to popular this season. I’m digging these ones by Marc Jacobs. I love the flirty bow in the front.

#5 Hardware

Chunky metal accents are really in right now. Follow Lady Lex’s lead and get yourself a motorcycle jacket and some studded booties. I like these from Free People.

Now you can stop complaining about summer ending and start complaining about how little money you have.
