Taking the stand: Round Sunglasses
Let’s start by reviewing the case: Sunglasses have long been synonymous with “cool” in our society. Take snoopy for example, just a cartoon dog, but throw a pair of shades on him and he’s Joe Cool.

When it comes to sunglasses, we’ll try just about anything. We embraced aviators and wayfarers and consider oversized sunglasses a mainstream staple. But now there’s a new style testing our tolerance- round sunglasses. The circular peepers were spotted all over the spring runways (Refer to Exhibit A) and on a few young Hollywood faces recently. (Refer to Exhibit B).
In all actuality though, round sunglasses are far from new. John Lennon obviously loved ‘em, as did Dwayne Wayne from in ‘A Different World.” And Ozzy of course, he still loves them. (Refer to Exhibit C)

So, members of The Pretty Committee, what do you think? Are round sunnies going to be the new “it” accessory or will you turn a blind eye?
Posh Hippie: On adults round sunglasses are eccentric, not fashionable. Though I am a fan of eccentric fashion, people who are not actually eccentric and try to act like they are come off as foolish. I think round sunglasses look great on little kids, comedians and puppies, none of whom are trying to be taken seriously for their fashion sense.
Trendspotter: While I’m not necessarily repelled by circular sunnies, I’m definitely not a fan and would never pay for them, unless of course I was dressing up as a hippie for Halloween, but even that is questionable. I do kind of like the half-tint Chanel ones Nicole Richie is wearing. I think there’s something cool about them, especially in the rose color. But again, I would never actually go out and buy them.
Lady Lex: In my opinion, it is only acceptable to wear round sunglasses under these conditions: 1) They are flip-up, 2) Your name is Dwayne Wayne. That guy was cool.
Ashley: Hate them. Awesome if you want to look like a washed up old hippie. Just kill me now and start wearing a tie dye t-shirt and long, unbrushed hair parted down the center. Hideous “trend.” Next.
Left-tie: Definitely not a bright eye-dea. A round pair of sunglasses is geek not chic. They say Hippy not Yipee. I prefer a chunky pair. One that covers so much of your face they hide the wrinkles aka no botox.
Verdict: We’re turning a blind eye on this trend.

That is Nicole Richie?? She is looking more and more like Paris Hilton in that photo with the long blond hair!! These round specs are not flattering but better suited for a costume party so don’t pay too much for them if you think you are making a fashion statement!
