Taking the Stand: Two-finger rings

Let’s start by reviewing the case: Rumor has it two finger rings are the distant non-violent cousin of brass knuckles. Brass knuckles have long been the bling of choice for gangsters and mobsters. It’s hard to find quality jewelry that also bashes in skulls.

With the decline of the mobster, brass knuckles needed fresh fingers to stay relevant. Enter Hollywood celebs in desperate need of street cred.  Nelly and Beyonce are both guilty of going gangsta. Nelly wears a traditional pair, while Beyonce looks very Sasha fierce exploring brass knuckles on her feet. (Refer to Exhibit A)

But in this age of Taylor Swift innocence, brass knuckles just won’t do. Enter the two, sometimes three, finger ring. Lauren Conrad wears one with her name. Rhianna sports a three finger ring. She should have stuck to the brass knuckle given her rocky romance with Chris Brown. (Refer to Exhibit B)

Several popular shopping websites sell the two finger ring. They come in different shapes and sizes.(Refer to Exhibit C)

Members of The Pretty Committee… Two finger rings; not so absurd? …or hate them so much we give them the bird!

left-tieLeft-Tie: Two finger rings are super cute. My only problem with them is comfort. I would hate to have two fingers bound like that. It would drive me crazy. They are probably best for those who don’t use their fingers that much. Can you imagine eating with two fingers practically tied together?

KAWAIIKIDKawaii Kid: I think two fingered rings are all sorts of fun and fancy.  They are different and interesting and play with our ideas of scale in jewelry.  I would rock the brass knuckles right out of those rings!

TrendspotterthumbTrendspotter: Personally, I can’t imagine myself sporting a two-finger ring,  just not my style. They’re not awful, but not for me. It looks cute on L.C. Also, I think this is the sort of accessory you should reserve for weekends when you’re hanging out with your artsy friends in the east village. Wait a minute, aren’t they illegal?

Leslie4Leslie: I love it!!  I would definitely rock one!  Don’t forget, Samantha’s flower ring in Sex and the City was a double finger ring.  Now that is some bling too big for one finger!  But when I rock one, I would go with a more dainty look like Lauren Conrad and stay away from the heavy bulky looks.  You don’t want to distract too much from your outfit.  I always say, “don’t let your accessory be your outfit”.  So watch out Nelly, I think I may try this trend this season.

PoshHippiePosh Hippie: I don’t wear rings, and I certainly wouldn’t wear these. This guy I know has a friend who makes three finger rings that are sort of artsy, and I like those on other people. Most of the ones pictured here look restrictive and uncomfortable. But I can see how they would come in handy for certain stars who need to defend themselves against physical attacks.

Verdict: If it’s calling your name, we’re not going to stop you. And if we see you in one, we know not to mess either.

XOXO,
The gals and guy of INPT
