Taking the stand: Designer Nailsstyleontrial3main3

Let’s start by reviewing the case:

When it comes to crimes of fashion, you don’t expect to find labels like Chanel, Burberry, or Louis Vitton at the scene. But as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction, and after seeing this latest trend you’ll certainly be able to attest to that.

It appears sporting a designer bag and scarf or even just one shade of nail lacquer isn’t enough for some. They simply need more flash and have resorted to either a) painting their logo-of-choice on their nails (Refer to exhibit A) or b) single-handedly wearing every color in a designer’s collection.  (Refer to exhibit B) Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself.

Evidence:

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

In fact, it should be noted that even the bright shades found in Chanel’s Robertson Exclusive collection weren’t enough to satisfy these appetites. As you can see from the photographs in exhibit B, additional accomplices were needed in order to carry out these crimes.

And so I ask you members of the jury, should this trend live on or should it be locked away?

poshhippiethumb1Posh Hippie: This is beyond tacky. They should be sent to jail and instead of using a file to escape, they should use it to help make those awful nails disappear. After that, it’ll be mandatory good taste rehabilitation courses for those ladies. What’s next? Skirts sewn from hundred dollar bills? Leather vests with gold coins hanging from the fringe?

trendspotterthumb2Trendspotter: I’m normally against the death penalty, but I think the behavior illustrated in exhibit A is beyond redemption and should be removed from society. I don’t think the trend displayed in exhibit B (with the exception of LiLo’s) should face as stiff of penalty. There is a time and place, like junior high and/or summer camp. However, if seen outside of these two places, fines and penalties should apply.

jessbiopic70_704Jess: There are many ways you can express your style, but I think we need to stray from the designer nails and multi-colors. However, to each their own.  Personally, I would never be caught dead in any type of designer nails.  I can barely stray from my typical french tip or pale pink.  I hope that this trend does not catch on because I for one will not be hip.

ladylexinhamburgthumb1Lady Lex: Designer nails are a no-go for me. It’s a bit cheesy to match your designer nails with your designer bag, so I’ll just pretend as if this trend doesn’t really exist.

daphnethumb1Daph: For the first time in my life, I’m at a loss for words.

The Verdict: These trends are dead to us.

XOXO,

The gals of INPT

My daughter has been doing this for the past 3 years , and she’s 13. This designer nail trend only works if your 10-15 years old, after that it’s just plain sad.
