Spring hasn’t even arrived yet and those in the fashion world are already looking towards fall. It’s hard for me to get excited about fall when I know spring and summer are right around the corner. I don’t have anything against fall, but it feels sort of like when you go to a restaurant for dessert and the waiter starts explaining the chef’s specials. I appreciate it and all, but crème brulee is really all I can think of. Of course, if something spectacular were to catch my attention, I could probably make room for it, but I’m not holding my breath, crème brulee is pretty hard to beat.

Being the fashion procrastinator that I am, I’m dedicating this post to the color trends you can expect to see this spring and summer. Ironically, these colors were decided and announced in Sept. 2008. Lol.

Who decides them? A company named Pantone, Inc. They’ve been the official color authority of New York Fashion Week for about 15 years.  They survey the designers during fashion week to determine the top 10 colors of the season.  They ask the designers what their prominent colors and color combinations are, what their most important color is and what inspired their color choices.  Then they release their official Fashion Color Report.™

According to Pantone, these are the colors we can expect to see this spring:

Personally, I’m a big fan of the vibrant green and the lavender.  One of the trench coats I recommended in my spring essentials post is in vibrant green. I’ve also noticed lots of lavender accessories popping up, like this Fendi B Belt on Net-A-Porter, which I LOVE, but at $485, it’s just more than I’m willing to spend on a patent leather belt.

Another color I saw lots of on the runways, but not so much of in Pantone’s official report was chartreuse.  It’s sort of a mix between super lemon and dark citron.

What do you think about this color?  I can’t make up my mind about it.  Send me your thoughts.

Until next time,
