If you’re like most of us, you don’t like cleaning. Understatement of the year! You do however enjoy living in a clean and tidy living space, which is why you force yourself to do the seasonal clean sweep through your apartment.
While I’m in no position to be dishing out cleaning advice, I will share some tips and products for making mundane chores a little more fun. Ok, maybe not fun, but tolerable.
#1 Play music that will keep you moving I like to listen to ‘Lovefool’ by the Cardigans, ‘Working 9 to 5′, by Dolly Parton, and ‘I’m too Sexy.’ For more ideas on music, check out the site rhapsody, where people can share playlists. I found tons of playlists specifically created for doing housework.
#2 Use pleasant smelling products that don’t contain harsh, bad-for-you chemicals that can make you irritable and tired. Some of my favorites are Mrs. Meyer’s Aromatherapeutic Clean Day products (the geranium scent is nice) and Method products, which are available at Target.

Newsoap.org is another fun and eco-friendly option for getting your favorite cleaning products. The company puts name-brand cleaning products into recycled soda/beer bottles and then attaches a dispenser for you.

#3 Kill two birds with one stone wherever possible. Example: Dust your floor and get exercise with these Slipper Genies from Sur La Table. Brilliant!

Blow bubbles and do dishes with the Bubble Scrubber. Fun!

#4 Have supplies you don’t mind touching. I can’t officially vouch for this, but I think anyone would be more inclined to clean with these cute sponges than a dirty old rag under the sink.

Sandwich Sponge from the MoMA store (Jelly heart not included), Mushroom sponge from Loofah-art (They make kitchen and bathroom sponges; They’re also biodegradable.) Apple sponge From Japan With Love, teapot from Ice Cream Drops Shop.
Other really cute cleaning tools:

Merdolino Toilet Brush from Alessi, mini vacuum friends from Fred Flare, Pinocchio Toilet Brush, Flower Power Broom from Target, Scottie Dog Crumb Sweeper from Perpetual Kid , Daddy Cool Scrubber, Doll scrub brush from Sur La Table.
And like Jess mentioned in her post on cute workout clothes, ‘When you look good, you feel good.’ #5 Get a cute apron to play Suzy Homemaker in. Luring your boyfriend over to help out should be a cinch in these aprons from Carolyn’s Kitchen.

Don’t forget the matching gloves! I kinda feel like cleaning, don’t you?
Until next time,

Very nice ideas! I just started using these mini sponges from Williams Sonoma which inflate as soon as you put them on water. It is deceiving when you buy the package because it looks like they are nothing at all but they get very wide.
