Getting Your Feet Sandal Ready
Are your little piggies ready to go to the market in those new sandals? Having been cooped up all winter, mine certainly are, but not without a little prior maintenance.
After months of not seeing the light of day, my tootsies need more than just a good pedicure, they need consistent TLC. It’s a battle I’ve been fighting for years, especially during the spring and summer months.
I recently added two new weapons to my callous-fighting arsenal: the Ped-Egg and Spongeable’s Pedi-Scrub Foot Buffer, both of which I really like.

I first spotted the Ped-Egg on one of those late night infomercials. The host demonstrated it’s strength by peeling an orange, which both scared and intrigued me. Secretly I wanted one, but am wary of anything being sold on late-night t.v.
When I spotted it at my local drugstore though, I decided to give it a try.
It works pretty much like any other quality foot file, nothing remarkable, but its nifty egg shape makes it more conducive for shaving down calloused heels. I also like that you can use it on a dry foot unlike a pumice stone.
I also like that it stores the shavings in it’s shell, although cleaning it out is pretty gross.
It’s stronger than any pumice stone I’ve tried, but not as as good as the razor tool (then again, what is?).
Another plus— it doesn’t get moldy if you keep it in your shower, which is what I don’t like about those synthetic pumice stones they use when you get a pedicure.

It’s also kind of cute, no? It’s an egg…for your feet…that feels kinda like a cheese grader. You can find the Ped-Egg at various drug stores or on Amazon for $9.
Another great find– the Pedi-Scrub Foot Buffer by Spongeables. I found this gem at Mindy Weiss’ Owen’s Market in L.A. I don’t know why these things aren’t more popular.

Basically one side is a scrubby texture and the other is a soft sponge infused with Shea butter, olive oil, and aromatherapy oils.
It’s stronger than most pumice stones, yet not as painful. When you’re done scrubbing, you just flip it over to cleanse and moisturize. I think moisturizing your feet in the shower makes a big difference. When I use just a pumice, my feet still feel rough and raw sometimes.
I highly recommend this product. Available online at drugstore.com for $5.49 a pop or get 4 on Amazon for $17.99. My favorite scent is the Citron Eucalyptus. Trust me, your feet will thank you.
Let me know if you know of any other cool grooming tools, I love trying new things. Don’t be shy, just send me an email at ladylex@ineedprettythings.com
Yours truly,
Lady Lex
P.S. The Ped-Egg on SNL’s Cougar Den. Too Funny! (Sorry the video isn’t that good; Ped Egg at 4:45)
