Saying Thanks

Any occasion is a great occasion to send a ‘Thank You’ card.  These simple words are the strings that tie a community together.

It could be a ‘thanks for hosting such a great party’ or ‘thanks for being such a great friend’ or ‘thanks for the thoughtful gift.’

There is an art to selecting the right ‘Thank You’ card. The first and ONLY rule to sending a one is: It must be sincere. From there, all you need is to find the right card.

When I’m looking for a great ‘Thank You’ card I consider these 4 basic guidelines:

  1. What occasion is the card for?  Formal, casual?
  2. What kind of person am I sending this to?  Do they have a sense of humor or do they like to dust their house every day?
  3. What kind of relationship do I have with this person?  Close friend, someone who just interviewed me and for whom I would like to work for, or casual acquaintance?
  4. What do I want the card to say about me?  I’m funny, I have flair, I’m conservative, I’m modern.

You can find ‘Thank You’ cards pretty much anywhere.  Sometimes, it’s alright to use that box of 12 you picked up at Target, but sometimes the occasion might call for something a little more fancy, a little more special. Lots of times you can find ‘Thank You’ cards at local gift shops, maybe even some made by a local artist? That is my favorite little touch. However, if you don’t have time to get out there and search you’re in luck, look below for a smattering of brilliant ways to say “Thanks.”

So funny that you mention Crane’s Six Language Thank You notes. I was in desperate need of some TY’s while visiting relatives back east this holiday and my girlfriend gave me a pack of these. I instantly loved them too!

I like the Six Language Thank You notes because they are very fitting for a very multi-cultural environment such as NYC!  I also have an appreciation for foreign languages and that card definitely reflects that aspect of my personality.
