How-To: Smoothly Transition into Fall

I wake up. Get all pumped because it’s crisp fall air outside. Excitedly get dressed in my “back-to-school” clothes. Noon hits and so the beads of sweat under the layers of fabulous fall clothes and I am sweltering in 75 Degrees in the middle of September. There has to be a better way! Transition pieces are key to keeping you matte between August and October:

Transition  Rules:

  1. Wear boots and go light on top – an easy tank with a lightweight wrap sweater.
  2. Denim  is wearable year-round. Choose a dark wash that will carry you through the rest of the year. Dark washes can be worn any time of year!
  3. Invest in the dress. Dresses paired with boots are a great way to keep the layers light and comfortable.
  4. Wait on the wool. Wool coats definitely have their place and I highly recommend buying one early in the season because the stores will have moved on to spring gear when you’re freezing your tootsies off. But, don’t start wearing it now you’ll just be a sweaty mess!

Top Pieces to add to your wardrobe now:

frye-boots

Frye Bethany Cuff Boot:  I’ve tried it. I’m currently lusting after it. Amazing.

trinaturkvest

Trina Turk Sweater Vest: Classic with a pencil skirt. Funky with a tee and skinny denim.

bfblazer

Kenneth Cole New York Boyfriend Blazer: Look for a style that’s relaxed, but not slouchy.  Jess alerted us to a boyfriend blazer on sale at Nordstrom for $58 a couple weeks ago. Not sure if it’s still available, but that’s a steal.

frenchconnectiondress

French Connection Sweet on You Dress: Love the pop of color. Paired with the boots, stop it. I can’t wait for fall!

Cheers,
Ashley
