I love the way a good manicure and perfectly polished nails can complete an outfit, especially in the fall and winter when the colors tend to be richer and darker.
So, I was really bummed when I recently learned that MOST nail polishes contain extremely toxic chemicals. Yep, you heard me. Here are the 3 major culprits found in MOST nailpolishes: DBP, short for nefarious dibutyl phthalate, which has been linked to cancer in lab critters and to underdeveloped genitals and other fertility problems in newborn boys, Toluene, and formaldehyde, which is the stuff they use to embalm people, need I say more?
I mean I want to look good but I also don’t want cancer 20 years from now or to have a baby with underdeveloped you know what…
As someone who believes it’s possible to have your cake and eat it too, I went on a mission to find a non-toxic nail polish. I’ve come up with a few brands, but my absolute favorite so far is Butter London. Their motto: “Colour, not carcinogens.”
And the best thing is, you’re not sacrificing anything, they’ve got all of the season’s hottest colors.
Pictured above is Butter’s Fall pack, which is available on their website for $45. It includes: Cream Tea, HRH, Saucy Jack, Swinger and Chimney Sweep. As you can see, every color is cleverly named to exude “British elegance with a hint of rock and roll.” Lol. I love it!
If you’d like to know more info about a certain nail polish, just leave a comment and I’ll point you to where you can find info on a specific brand.
Until next time,
