This winter faux fur vests came blazing into style! As the weather got colder and we all grew frigid, the fur vest came to the rescue.

However, there are many ways a fur vest can go wrong.  Let’s take a look at a few boo-boos that have taken place:

1. Mary-Kate Olsen – A nice effort, but this fur vest looks like its eating her frail frame.  She looks like she is wearing a carpet.  Instead, try sticking to a fur vest that doesn’t fall past your waste.  This will help give you shape in something that is so bulky.

Kim Kardashian chooses the right style for her body.  Falling a bit above her waste, she maintains her body shape and looks fabulous doing it! Also, she is a bigger girl and can pull off bulkier look.

2. Kelly Rowland – Belting your fur vest… hmmmm, I thought long and hard about this and I am strongly against it.  She looks like a bubble without a shape.  This is a common mishap with fur vests.  You can lose your shape very easily.  If she was going to the snow, I would compliment her outfit, but around town it does not do her body justice.

Instead, do like Paula Abdul and belt your jeans with a cute white shirt that is tucked in.  It still gives her petite body some shape, and the fur vest adds some pizzazz to the outfit! You go Paula!!

Or even do as Amerie has done.  Belt your shirt or dress shirt to maintain your shape underneath a big fur vest. This also works… Just please ladies, DON’T BELT THE ACTUAL FUR VEST!

3. Katharine McPhee and Heidi Montag – Although fur has taken a huge leap back into the fashion scene, lets be specific on what kind of fur.  Not the stringy Lama-looking fur Katherine and Hiedi! It looks like your fur went through a bad wash job!

Stick to a nice dark brown, mocha or black color.  Juicy Couture makes this great vest that cinches together at the bottom, helping to keep your shape, and the fur looks healthy!

If you’re still doubting the fur vest, check out Polyvore.com where they put together TONS of outfits that look great with fur vests.  It is always difficult for me to put together outfits with outrageous pieces, fur vests being one of them, but when in doubt ladies, KEEP IT SIMPLE.  In my opinion, Paula Abdul does it best: jeans, white T, belt and fur jacket!
