Many of us are willing to go to great lengths to achieve a certain level of beauty, but where do you cross the line?

Totally worth it?
Recently, there has been a rave of reports warning us about the dangers of Brazilian Blowouts and the presence of formaldehyde in its solution.
Brazilian Blowouts is a brand of Brazilian keratin treatment that supposedly restores frizzy, curly, damaged hair into a smooth and silky mane without the use of harmful chemicals.
…except they do contain harmful chemicals – and of the carcinogenic type.
The Oregon Health & Science University’s Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology (CROET) initiated a study on the toxic levels of the Brazilian Blowout product when Portland-based salons reported nosebleeds, respiratory problems and eye irritations. Their studies found alarmingly high levels of formaldehyde in the product despite Brazilian Blowout’s claims on the very packaging that they’re formaldehyde-free.
The company continues to dispute the claims, questioning the research methods of OHSU.
However, OHSU’s findings have been repeated by Health Canada’s studies, meaning the Canadian government has issued a warning against this product.
What do you think? Is this just another sensationalized scare targeting the paranoid or is the media exposure well-deserved? Tell us what you think!
With love,
Al
