Exciting news girls– Fashion’s Night Out is coming back! Mark your calendars to shop through the night of Sept. 9, 2010. The mayor of NYC will be making the big announcement today (Thursday). Woohoo!

While initial reports questioned the success of the event, citing low sales numbers despite the large crowds, the Wall Street Journal reports participating retailers still believe the event was a hit. “Retailers say that [increased foot traffic] didn’t directly lead to an increase in actual sales, but they believe it may have encouraged customers to come back the following week.”

What’s in store for next year? Well, according to reports some retailers are trying to get the powers that be to make Sept. 9 free of sales tax. Wouldn’t that be nice?

There is also a proposal to stage a fashion show at Lincoln Center for shoppers, but instead of promoting designer’s new spring 2011 designs, merchandise currently IN stores  [and in season] would be shown. WOOT!

Finally, they’re making some sense.  Now we can finally report in what we’re seeing in real time!
