Fall trends on the runway are always a little intimidating. And despite mainstream glossies’ attempt to reach out to “every woman” with price conscious listings, fashion editorials still leave much to be desired when a beautiful fall coat wipes out what  could have been a down payment on your much-desired new car.  But for every trend gracing the pages of your favorite magazine, there is an equally affordable and fabulous interpretation. Without further adieu, INPT brings you Three Key Fall ‘09 Trends.

#1 The Ponte Pant

Thicker than a legging, (I just heard a huge sigh of relief from all the buns out there that have ever showed a hint of a dimple!) slim fitted for a boot or paired nicely with the “bootie”  of the season. Joe’s Jeans make a pair I love for $138. You will absolutely, without a doubt get your money’s worth with these fabulous pants.

#2 The Oversized Cardigan

Let’s start with the warning right up front. If you are not a gazelle-like model, you must look at the oversized cardigan as a means to an end. You MUST accessorize. Belt it, layer necklaces and use thin layering pieces underneath. You can definitely rock this trend, in fact it can be super flattering, but do so with care so you feel svelte and sexy not layered and lumpy.

Two options to wet your appetite for fall: Kersh V-neck long cardigan

& Vince’s drape cardigan.

#3 The Boyfriend Jacket

You’ve heard the hype, you know the deal, so embrace your inner Molly Ringwald and get yourself the modern version of this 80’s style. Same deal as with the oversized cardigan. Accessorize and look for a slimmer cut. Super loose is not flattering. Ben Sherman’s old-school London cool pulls it off perfectly this season.

Alright ladies, happy shopping. Good luck with all your fall shopping and embracing your version of this year’s fall trends! Please share your favorites from Fall ‘09 – send pics and post links to your favorite pieces. Can’t wait to see your interpretations of Fall ‘09.

Cheers,
Ashley
