Display Your Rain Boots

One of my favorite things about April showers (besides May flowers) is that I get to wear big rubber rain boots. There’s something about the look and feel of rain boots that I just love. Maybe it’s the way they make me feel like a kid again? I actually find myself going out of my way to walk through puddles in them. Or perhaps it’s the bright fun colors they come in? Whatever it is, I’ve noticed they’ve managed to hold their center stage position in my hall closet year round. I think I just like looking at them?

Okay, I confess, I love hearing guests remark on how cute they are as I put away their coats. But they deserve it, they’re adorable. They’re bright red and are quite possibly one of my favorite pairs of shoes. I kind of wish I could just put them on display, which is why I’m loving this pebble-filled boot tray idea from Martha Stewart.

Pretty and practical. Not only does it gives you somewhere to drop your wet boots as you walk in the door but it also serves as a pretty display case. You could easily make one of these trays yourself from scrap lumber or an old fruit box or you could just buy a galvanized steel tray like this one.

Fill with river stones or pretty polished pebbles and voilà!

Until next time,

P.S. Have you seen Liberty of London’s rain boots at Target? So cute. For other cute rain gear, click here.

I love this idea. My pink Hunters are currently in the trunk of my car. You never know when you’ll need them here in the Pacific Northwest. I only wish they made the tall ones in petite sizes for shorter legs. They come clear up to the bottom of my knee and are sometimes uncomfortable to sit down in. Otherwise, I’m with you Trendspotter–puddle jumping.
