ADD, Wii tennis elbow, blackberry thumb, all sooooo 2008. Yep, a new year means a whole new list of ailments. Lol.

So what should you be looking out for in 2009? I can’t predict the future, but I think Obsessive Social Networking Disorder is going to be a big one. Just a hunch.

I really didn’t think of OSND as an affliction until I saw Arriana Huffington as the poster child in a New York Times’ Style Magazine article.  Arianna Huffington is one of my idols, how can this be?

According to writer Ben Widdicombe, “Huffington has 3 different BlackBerrys and a Facebook profile so overconnected that it cannot accept new friend requests. However, she lacks lifelong pals, because she explained, ‘I metabolize experiences fast.’” Lol.

The treatment… “Coming soon, a mountaintop monastery in Huffington’s native Greece offering rest from Internet exposure and ‘promiscuous friending.’ “

I don’t have O.S.N.D., but I think maybe I want it now? HA HA!

Widdicombe’s had some other affliction predictions for 2009, here they are:

The subtext…”In the 1950’s, Josephine Baker adopted 12 multinational children whom she labeled her “rainbow tribe.”  Well on her way to rival La Baker is Jolie, who has six children (and a stated desire to adopt more).  Which means the actress, 33, is not just a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador–she’s her own aid program.

The subtext…”During the 2008 presidential race, Lieberman and Powell both blithely crossed party lines to pitch their tents in the enemy camp.  They earned the enmity of their former colleagues and may need a little reputation rehab to keep their cred in Washington.”

The subtext…”Winehouse became the poster girl for rehab resistance with a catchy song about life in the fast lane with no regrets.  Unfortunately, it was followed by a public disintegration so troubling that she has probably done more to keep young people off drugs than a Betty Ford/Nancy Reagan Voltron.”

Well, I got a chuckle out of these, I hope you do too.  Happy Tuesday!

Always watching out for ya,
