Review of Alexander McQueen’s line for Target

Jess’ Grade: C

I checked out Alexander McQueen’s new “McQ” line for Target this weekend and I have to say I was pretty let down. I’m not sure if it’s because I went in with extra high expectations or if it was just the line itself.

Either way, I felt McQ was a mediocre attempt of bringing Alexander McQueen’s visionary brand to the masses.

I was expecting rock ‘n’ roll-punk inspired pieces with hip-Brit accents but most of what I saw was just dizzying prints that grew tackier by the minute.

To be fair, the Target I visited didn’t really do much for presentation.  It took me about half an hour just to find the single rack of clothes that had very clearly been picked over by the masses.

I didn’t let it discourage me too much though, I was pretty determined on finding something that invoked the true Alexander McQueen spirit.

I found two items that I was pleased with (although the prices were a bit high for Target):

ebony_blazer

Ebony Blazer, Target $50

A great addition to any wardrobe, this blazer sits beautifully on the shoulders and falls right about the waist. The 3/4 length sleeves give it a casual feeling, making it suitable for day or night and faint pinstripes add character. I give it an A-.

If there’s one item the McQ line nailed it’s leggings. They’re soft, comfy, and oh so cute. With a zipper that comes to about mid calf, these leggings would go perfectly with some killer heels for a really cute evening outfit. (Perhaps with your Alexander McQueen Jacket, if your little heart desires)

Zip Legging also in Ebony, Target, $30

I tried to find my size in both of these items, but they were sold out at EVERY Target store in my area. I guess with all the buzz the lines’ received the few distinct items have been going really fast!

The line will not be re-ordered at Target because they’re trying to keep McQ’s pieces exclusive, so check them out while you can ladies.  I suggest shopping at Target.com

Your gal,
Jess

I’d much rather go online than search through the racks at target. Thanks for the heads up Jess! xoxo
