Review of Charlotte Ronson’s Collection for JCPenney
Jess’s Grade A-
When it comes to dropping names, JCPenney has been all about it lately… at least with designer names. And with names like Nicole Miller, Allen B. Schwartz, and Charlotte Ronson signed on, who can blame them?
I think it might be working too. As someone who had never actually step foot in a JCPenney before, I did this weekend. I did it all for you, my INPT readers, wanted to give you a honest review of Charlotte Ronson’s new I <3 [Heart] Ronson line.
For those of you unfamiliar with her work, she is a British designer who gained notoriety in 2008 after launching a hit line called “Play” in collaboration with Urban Outfitters. She held her first runway show in Spring 2009 in NYC. Here’s a short clip of her Fall 2009 collection which recently debuted at New York Fashion Week. She’s also Samantha Ronson’s (as in LiLo’s galpal) twin sister.
Because she is one of my favorite designers, I couldn’t wait to check out the new line. I tried not to let my expectations get too high like I did with Alexander McQueen and the McQ line for Target…we all know how that turned out.
Well girls, the I <3 Ronson collection will reaffirm your faith that you can get quality duds at fair prices. Honestly, I couldn’t believe the quality of the clothes from this designer. One, two, three, four, five, six…before I knew it I was looking for my size in almost every item.
She’s really got it all. Simple ribbed tanks, check. Cotton blazers for everyday, check. Silky flower print tops, check. Subtle but stylish flannel shirts, check. And that’s just tops. The line includes dresses, pants, and casual loungewear as well. Prices range from $15 for tees to $65 for jackets and dresses
After finally making it to the dressing room, I have to say I was pleased with how everything fit. My favorite pieces were the cotton blazer in black.
This blazer is a perfect casual jacket: very unlike anything that is out there right now. It is made out of sweatshirt material and I wear mine at least once a week for a mere $44. (Plus I got 20% off that price, so I paid $35!)

I was also impressed with the baby pink flannel button up. I had been looking for a subtle flannel that wasn’t a neon purple or bright red for quite some time. This shirt has the perfect soft colors and thin flannel lines. It is three-quarter length sleeves and looks great tucked into jeans with a belt and some boots. $21.50.
Never in a million years would I have guessed I would be shopping at JCPenney. I always thought the store was for soccer moms. Congratulations Charlotte Ronson, you have proved me wrong! Watch out Forever 21. I think JCPenney might be competition soon with its low prices and good quality.
Happy Shopping!
Your gal,
Jess
