Burberry Outlet

LONDON, ENGLAND:  In response to the recent interest in Jess’ write-up on the Prada Outlet, I  thought it would be a good time to share another international shopping gem with our readers, the Burberry Outlet, right outside of London.

burberry2If you’re a Burberry fan, this outlet will seem like a little piece of heaven to you! I visited the outlet about a year ago while studying abroad in London and even though I don’t fancy myself a huge Burberry fan, I left with my hands full. The deals are great, with most things discounted 30- 50% off the original price.

Like the Prada Outlet, this is Burberry’s official factory outlet, so the majority of the merchandise is only a season or two old.

If you’re planning a trip anytime soon, here are the Essentials:

Address: 29-53 Chatham Place, London E9 6LP
Phone Number: +44 20 8985 3344
Store Hours: 10am – 6pm (Mon – Sat), 11am – 5pm (Sun)

Getting There:

The outlet is about 45min-1hr (by public transport) from central London, so if timing is an issue you may want to reconsider (but I wouldn’t, you’d be missing out). Also, the outlet is not in the greatest neighborhood. exterior1It’s in the outskirts of London in a poorer neighborhood, so beware of your surroundings and dress casually. Do not let this keep you from going. If you are street smart, you will be fine (lots of people from London travel to this outlet). Its easiest to travel by car, but if that’s not an option, it’s an easy cab or tube trip.

Inventory:

The outlet is four rooms and carries virtually everything (even children’s clothing). When I was there, there was a lot of clothing from the classic Burberry check line, but all the sizes were really big. The real treat came when I got to the accessories. The outlet carries pretty much everything: shoes, rain boots, bags/purses, scarves, gift boxes, perfumes, and bikinis.

Don’t go hoping to score a classic Burberry trench. The size selection is so limited, especially if you wear a small size like me.

All that was available in smaller sizes were quilted jackets and vests.

interior1Prices:

Again, most items are marked down 30-50%. Here’s what you can expect to pay: Quilted Jacket/ Vest: 99GBP (approx.$163), Wool Scarves: 24GBP (approx. $40), Tall Rain Boots: 30GBP (approx.$40). .

Tips:

Map out your route ahead of time by going to Transport for London and clicking on “Journey Planner.” In most cases, you will take the central line on tube, to Bethnal Green. From there you can take either a 5 minute bus, or catch a taxi (both are usually accessible right outside the tube.) A friend of mine said there were no cabs when she went so I recommend bringing the phone number for both the bus and a local cab co. as you don’t want to be hanging around the tube too long.

Arrive early.

Dress casually and wear comfy shoes.

Eat a hearty breakfast so you’re not distracted by hunger pains.

Make a day of it and check out the nearby Broadway Market after you visit the outlet.

Shop Your Heart Out! You won’t regret it.

If you’re going to be venturing to London anytime soon and have any specific questions, feel free to email me at Daph@ineedprettythings.com

XOXO,
Daphne

    Thanks Daph!

How did I not know about this?

I am a Canadian that was shopping the Outlet 5 years ago.  While I was there customers were not allowed to try on clothes.  Has this changed?  It was frustrating wanting to try on a shirt or jeans, a person could get away with trying on an overcoat, but you had ‘big brother’ eyes all over you if you did.  Would like to go again and spend more time shopping, please let me know if the rule is the same – thanks OCDMOM
