Rain gear is one of those things you don’t really think about until you need it, but by then it’s almost always too late and you end up either a) putting function over fashion and wearing something you hope no one who knows you will see you in  or b) going into complete denial about the effects of H2O on your new leather boots, which you later want to kick yourself for. Sound familiar? Don’t beat yourself up too bad, I think we’ve all been there. And the serious lack of cute rain gear doesn’t help matters. I had to do some really hunting to find these rain-friendly finds.

Betsey Johnson 'Rose' Slicker

Available at Nordstrom for $98 I saw this Old Navy jacket in this month’s Real Simple. It was in their ‘Best Buys’ in Rain Gear feature, but when I went to check it out, it seemed like regular fabric and not very water resistant.
Old Navy Raincoat

Old Navy Raincoat

It’s not available on the website. Call 800-653-6289 for stores. $39.50 Umbrellas: For light rain and drizzles, I like this umbrella…
Sky Umbrella

Sky Umbrella

Available at Uncommon Goods for $48 For serious downpours and windy situations, you’ll want one of these…
Aerodynamic Senz Umbrella

Aerodynamic Senz Umbrella

Also at Uncommon Goods, for $65 The ‘Senz”, as it’s called was the winner of the 2007 Red Dot design award and nominated for the German Design Award 2008.  Yes, it may look a little silly at first , but designer Gerwin Hoggendarn says the umbrella can withstand winds up to 70 mph without inverting. Now that’s some serious resistance.

Hats: And to top off your rainy day look…

Patent Leather Trim Hat

Patent Leather Trim Hat

Available at Land’s End now for $14.99

Hope this makes your search a little easier.

Let it rain,

I love both rainboots and can see myself wearing both. I also love the sky umbrella but wouldn’t invest in such a nice umbrella because half the time you misplace your umbrella and then lose it! It isn’t worth if you tend to lose umbrellas. That should only be used on good occasions and to places where you could possibly trace it to like a friend’s home.

Love the black rainboots! I found a similar pair from Target one in black and charcoal grey and then one that is kind of a buffalo plaid color and they where $32.00 and they are SUPER comfy!!!
