An Iconic Clutch

I’ve never been a huge fan of Dooney & Bourke; their handbags always seemed too “old-ladyish.”

And when they introduced their new line of pastel-colored handbags five or so years ago, all I could think was indentity crisis? The whole thing smelled desperado.

DB’s new line debuted shortly after Louis Vitton introduced its new multicolor monogram. But where LV went edgy with bold colors and spikey gold hardware, DB stayed conservative. (yawn!)

Doesn’t that bag just scream “I’m a church going goody two-shoes?”

Well, the entire line did, until now. Behold, the Hayden Clutch.

Designed by the young actress Hayden Panettiere, the clutch bares a 24 carat gold-plated lion head, apparently inspired by Panettiere’s astrological sign.

Whatever the inspiration, DB should stick with it, cause this is the first must-have I’ve seen from them.

The rest of the Hayden line is pretty cute too.  I dig this Hayden tote in deep plum.

Go Hayden, you’ve earned a fan!

Until next time,
