There’s no denying the economy has seen better days and while it may or may not be affecting your cash flow…there are people hurting. And if it keeps heading in this direction, there’s no saying how bad things will get.
I don’t want to bore you with financial graphs and charts, but I will tell you this, people are not spending like they used to. I read an article in the WSJ recently on how florists and party planners in the Hamptons are seeing less business as NYC’s elite cut back. For instance, instead of having fresh flowers delivered once a week, they’re only ordering arrangements when they’re expecting guests. Now that’s serious!
So, what’s a stylish trendy fashionista like yourself supposed to do in times of financial instability? Simple, tone it down.
I’m not saying you can’t wear designer clothes or buy anything new. I’m just suggesting it might be time to take it down a notch. I mean do you really want to be flaunting your new $5K bag at a time when people are losing their homes and jobs? Probably not.
This doesn’t mean shopping at Payless or Wet Seal; but it may be time to consider opting for a pair of rain boots from Urban Outfitters ($48) vs. a pair from Burberry ($195). Get my drift?
Until next time,
