A New Spin on Old Classics

All this talk of balls and gowns has sparked my inner child’s love of fairytales. It’s a feeling Disney (who else?) has been cleverly capitalizing on lately. In an effort to attract a more sophisticated adult market, Disney has reached out and partnered up with some very cutting edge designers who are adding a fresh spin to the old classics. First it was clothes and jewelry, but now I’m seeing it on make-up and handbags too.

Kidada Jones’ (Quincy’s daughter BTW) work is probably the most notable to date. Her jewelry line uses characters and elements from the most popular hits and spins them into fun, edgy, modern pieces. Take a look.

While some pieces have a little too much Disney for my liking, overall I think she’s really talented and the pieces do call to that inner child in all of us.  Here’s my favorite piece.

Until next time,
